Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with anesthesiologists and the regional block nurse team to provide comprehensive perioperative patient care.
  • Administer conscious sedation during regional block procedures.
  • Round on preoperative and postoperative regional anesthesia patients.
  • Order medications, including controlled substances and narcotics, as clinically appropriate.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments in a systematic manner, addressing physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive needs.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding perioperative care and treatment plans.
  • Consult with supervising physicians and other healthcare professionals based on patient needs and assessment findings.
  • Assist anesthesiologists in performing preoperative surgical evaluations.
  • Review medical records, order appropriate diagnostic studies under established protocols, and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Maintain effective communication with physicians, nursing staff, and other departments to promote continuity of care and operational efficiency.
  • Prioritize patient care while effectively managing multiple responsibilities throughout the day.
  • Adapt efficiently to various electronic medical record (EMR) systems utilized across different hospital facilities.
  • Maintain compliance with all hospital, state, and USAP policies and procedures while delivering safe, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

 

* At least 1-2 years Nurse Practitioner experience

* DEA required 

* Active Texas NP License

* Completion of Master’s or Post Master’s Degree from an NP program that is accredited by the Commissions on the Collegiate of Nursing Education
