Medical City Dallas is seeking a highly skilled Obstetric Anesthesiologist to serve as the Medical Director of OB Anesthesia for our busy, high-acuity maternity program. This is a combined clinical and administrative leadership role supporting one of the most advanced women’s hospitals in Texas. With 5,000+ deliveries per year, a Level IV NICU, and a nationally recognized Placenta Accreta program, Medical City Dallas offers an exceptional environment for an anesthesiologist with a passion for maternal care and multidisciplinary teamwork.

Job Highlights

Clinical Duties (40–50 hours per week):

  • Provide high-quality obstetric anesthesia care, including labor analgesia, complex maternal anesthesia, and high-risk OB case coverage
  • Participate in daytime coverage and overnight call
  • Support safe, timely, evidence-based anesthesia services across the OB service line

Leadership Duties:

  • Serve as the Medical Director of OB Anesthesia, collaborating closely with Obstetrics, Maternal–Fetal Medicine, Neonatology, Nursing Leadership, and Administration
  • Oversee and advance quality initiatives, patient safety protocols, scheduling, and clinical workflow
  • Provide leadership for the Placenta Accreta program, including coordinating multidisciplinary planning, simulation, and case management
  • Contribute to ongoing staff development, education, and process improvement
  • Help shape strategic direction for OB anesthesia services

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • Board-certified or board-eligible anesthesiologist
  • Strong clinical experience in obstetric anesthesia (minimum 5 years preferred if not fellowship-trained)
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, communication skills, and collaborative style
  • Commitment to evidence-based care, quality improvement, and multidisciplinary teamwork

 

Preferred:

  • Fellowship training in Obstetric Anesthesiology
  • 5–10 years of post-training experience in obstetric anesthesia
  • Prior experience managing high-risk pregnancies and complex OB cases (e.g., placenta accreta spectrum)
