Job Description:
* Family or Acute Care NP will collaborate with anesthesiologists and the block nurse team to provide care and support to patients.
* This role involves administering conscious sedation during block procedures, rounding on patients, assisting with the care for pre and post op regional anesthesia patients, ordering medications which includes narcotics.
* Performs assessments/data collection in an ongoing systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive status.
* Provides patients and family education, consults with supervising physician and or other clinicians as dictated by patient needs and assessment findings.
* Assist the anesthesiologist with performing Preoperative surgery assessments.
* Reviews medical record for follow up and ordering of diagnostic studies under established protocols.
* Maintains communication with other healthcare providers and departments to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness to promote consistency and continuity of care.
* Effective management of time while prioritizing patient care throughout the day.
* Able to quickly adapt to using different computer systems used at various hospital facilities (progress notes, orders, etc.)
Qualifications
* At least 1-2 years Nurse Practitioner experience
* DEA required
* Active Texas NP License
* Completion of Master’s or Post Master’s Degree from an NP program that is accredited by the Commissions on the Collegiate of Nursing Education
